Analogue Film Photography
Seven series shot on 35mm film — in ocean pools, night pools and open water, from the Sydney coast to Far North Queensland. Cross-processed Velvia, Portra, Ektar, Lomochrome Purple. Nothing is previewed, nothing is digital, nothing is AI. Each frame gets one chance, and the film has the final say.
Begin in the dark ↓Night Swim · shot on cross-processed Fuji Velvia · Port Douglas
A figure in red, in black water, at night — the flash the only light source, the Velvia's crossed chemistry turning it feral.
Shot in Far North Queensland — the same waters the Dissolution paintings hang beside in 2026. The photographs and the paintings were made looking at the same country.
Ocean Pool — Blue · shot on Kodak Portra 400 · NSW coast
Patterned fabric and skin breaking into caustic light at the waterline. The surface photographed from beneath — the threshold this whole practice keeps returning to.
Tidal · shot on cross-processed Fuji Velvia 100 · Cronulla
The pull between the pool and the open sea — bodies held in the water that moves them. Shot at Cronulla, where the tide decides the picture.
Manyana · shot on Fuji C200 · Manyana, NSW
Pink water, pale bodies, the light arriving underwater. Manyana is the hinge of this page — still submerged, already luminous.
Cronulla Pool — Red · shot on Kodak Portra 400 · Cronulla
Cronulla Pool — Green · shot on Kodak Portra 400 · Cronulla
Daylight, chlorine blue, swimmers seen from below in full sun. Paired series — the same pool in two chromatic keys.
Cronulla Coast · shot on Lomochrome Purple · Cronulla
Above the waterline entirely: the deco buildings, the palms, the shore in a purple key. The page ends here — dry land, transformed.
Provenance
